Project by Catie DelleMonache, Leslie Dong, Olivia West and myself.
The idea for this project was to create a new casino from scratch to occupy the space directly across from the Wynn Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. There was no budget limit. The focus of the project was the theme, while functionality/feasibility could be stretched a bit.
My team and I were heavily inspired by a computer generated sculpture by polish artist Adam Martinakis. Roots of Fire is a very powerful image. The contrast of the glowing crack on the cool rock exterior ultimately pushed us to choose anthropomorphic tectonic plates as our theme.

Our story is one of passion. Two titans whose love is so strong they shift continents just to be together. They clash with such force that the land shakes and breaks apart, their fire erupting from the cracks.
The trick to pulling this off was to create an environment that merged sharp angles and fractals with organic curves. Our vision was always that of two bodies, curling in a powerful embrace, surrounded by the rocks and ground that broke when they met. |
